Virginia Beach, Va.Mike Chandler, President and CEO of Rejoice Networks (formerly
REJOICE! Musical Soul Food Gospel Radio Network) and owner of REJOICE 100.9/WFMI-FM, has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Communication by The Williams Bible Institute and Seminary, recognizing his three-decade career in broadcast engineering and gospel media.

Chandler grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and studied at Florida State University before starting his career as an engineer on NASA’s Space Shuttle Program at Kennedy Space Center. He later moved into broadcasting, hired by the late Bishop Willis as a corporate engineer for Willis Broadcasting in Virginia Beach. Chandler went on to build what is now Rejoice Networks and today owns REJOICE 100.9/WFMI-FM in Virginia Beach. “I didn’t plan on any of this — I just wanted to keep the signal clear, first on a rocket, then on a radio tower,” said Mike Chandler. “I’m grateful to Bishop Stan Williams and Dr. Dee Williams for this.”

Chandler lives in Maryland with his wife, April Chandler, and leads the Rejoice Networks’ day-to-day operation, including its move into digital and streaming media. The Williams Bible Institute and Seminary cited Chandler’s contributions to Christian communication and the gospel broadcasting industry in conferring the degree.
