Welcome back to another episode of THE BUZZ. Today, we had the pleasure of hosting the multi Grammy® award-winning singer/songwriter, and one-half of the iconic Gospel duo Mary Mary, Tina Campbell.
Before we dived into the heart of the interview, we shared a light-hearted moment from the Stellar awards. Our host, Sherwyn, recounted a hilarious encounter his wife had with Tina, which has since become a running joke in their household.
New Music and Upcoming Album
Tina is currently promoting her new single, “Pray For Me,” which is out now. Fans can also look forward to her new album, “Testify,” set to release in June.
The Interview
We kicked off the interview by wishing Tina a happy birthday month and delving into her celebration preferences. Tina shared her thoughts on whether she’d want her children to follow in her footsteps in the music industry. Tina’s solo journey began in 2014, and she has since released hits like “Too Hard Not To” and “It’s Still Personal”. Now, in 2024, she’s back with her new single “Pray For Me”. She opened up about her experiences during this time, including the challenges and rewards of her solo career.
Transitioning from Mary Mary to a solo career was a significant change for Tina. She discussed the public’s response and whether she felt the need to navigate or prove herself again. Tina’s music has always resonated with a sense of complete surrender and vulnerability. She shared how her latest song, “Pray For Me,” reflects her personal experiences and faith journey.
We also touched on the possibility of Tina releasing a book based on her Intimacy Prayers. Tina and her husband Teddy are passionate about their marriage ministry, and she offered advice to couples who might feel stuck in a rut. Despite having been in the industry for so long and performed on some of the biggest stages, Tina shared what still excites her about making music and performing live.
